Expat resources

The website I am Expat can help you with questions you might have whether you are here to study or here to stay for awhile. They also have social media pages on Facebook.

Saxion’s Facebook page

Posts are in English and there are posts about upcoming events (for example, they recently posted about Chinese New Year’s activities in Enschede. You can connect with other international students, maybe if you want to play football?

Dutch museums

If you like museums, the Netherlands has some amazing ones – and if family comes to visit, they are a great place to go if the weather isn’t that great. If you are 18 you can get a museum card for only 32 euros which will give you free entry to almost every museum in the Netherlands (over 400 of them!) Whether you like history, art, technology, science… there’s so much to see and learn and it’s a great way to practice English. I highly recommend the following museums:

Dutch Open Air Museum (Openluchtmuseum / Arnhem)

Kroller Muller Museum (2nd largest exhibition of Van Gogh and in the beautiful forest with a statue garden as well)

Stedelijk / Rijksmuseum / Van Gogh / Resistance Museum in Amsterdam – the Rijksmuseum is the most famous but I also love the exhibits in the Stedelijk (city museum). There’s a whole museum plaza.
